HOW IT WORKS

As a responsible service, we prioritize the safety of our crew and community. A small list of items falls outside what any Drop Type can take — no exceptions, for everyone’s safety.

Not Accepted, No Exceptions

These two categories can’t go through Bulky Drop under any Drop Type — DIY, Outside-Door, or Full-Service.
  • Hazardous materials. Paint and paint thinners, household or automotive chemicals, tires, and appliances containing refrigerants (refrigerators, freezers, AC units).
  • Bed bug infested items. Any item with a known or suspected bed bug infestation — no exceptions. This protects our crew and every resident who uses the zone after you.

Why We’re Strict About This

These aren’t arbitrary rules. Hazardous materials require special handling our crew and disposal partners aren’t equipped to provide, and a single infested item can spread to every other resident’s belongings that pass through the same Drop Zone. Holding this line protects the crew who handles every item, and the neighbors who use the zone right after you.
Not sure if your item qualifies? Reach out before booking and describe the item — we’ll let you know.

What To Do With These Items Instead

  • Paint, chemicals, and other household hazardous waste. Most municipalities run dedicated household hazardous waste drop-off days or facilities.
  • Tires. Most tire retailers accept old tires for a small fee, often when you buy replacements.
  • Refrigerant-containing appliances. Many utility companies and appliance retailers offer pickup or trade-in programs that handle refrigerant safely.
  • Bed bug infested items. Treat and confirm the infestation is fully resolved before considering disposal through any service, including Bulky Drop.

Common Questions

When in doubt, reach out before booking — contact us and describe the item, and we’ll let you know whether it’s something we can accept.
Items that violate this policy may be reported and are handled according to Bulky Drop’s Prohibited and Hazardous Items Policy — see our full Resident Legal Policies for details.
Yes — hazardous materials and bed bug infested items are excluded from every Drop Type, with no exceptions.
Yes — appliances without refrigerant are accepted like any other bulk item. It’s specifically refrigerant-containing units (refrigerators, freezers, AC units) that require special handling we’re not equipped to provide.
